Café & Sound Space

A custom ceiling and shelf system for a new-concept café in the Eixample district designed to complement the interior design and identity of the space while also working as an acoustic centrepiece.

The architectural language of Fonik is restrained and warm — cream plaster walls, natural wood, careful lighting. Any visible speaker would have broken the spell. The challenge was to deliver exceptional acoustic performance across the full space while making the sound system an intentional part of the design rather than an afterthought.

Working alongside the project architect from the early stages, we developed a system integrated into the ceiling and shelving structure of the space. The enclosures are proportioned to work with the module of the architecture, finished to complement the surrounding materials. Every element was resolved as a design decision, not an installation compromise.

The result is a café where the sound feels like part of the room — warm, present, and completely integrated. The system has become one of the defining characteristics of the Fonik experience, recognised by visitors and press alike.

The best outcome for an architectural sound system is when a visitor asks "where is the music coming from?" — not because the sound is poor, but because the system has become truly part of the room.
